The Dean Knight Partnership — Regeneration for the Future
10th June 2005
Today sees the launch of The Dean Knight Partnership, a new regeneration and historic building consultancy offering a range of high quality services to public and private organisations, partnerships and communities involved in the regeneration of neighbourhoods and urban areas and in the restoration and renewal of individual properties or groups of buildings.
Partners Janet Dean and Keith Knight bring together a wealth of experience in this field. Janet Dean has more than 25 years experience in the public sector, including nine years as Director in London and in Doncaster. She has a national reputation for partnership working and neighbourhood renewal and has pioneered work on developing community strategies through local strategic partnerships.
Keith Knight is an architect specializing in the restoration of historic buildings and advising on change in the historic environment. He has over twenty years’ experience as an architect and conservation officer in private and local authority practice and managed large scale high quality projects in Hyde Park, London and Swinegate in York. Keith is a qualified member of the Association of Project Management and is currently Chair of the Yorkshire Region of the Institute of Historic Building Conservation.
“The synergy between the work that Keith and I do, for example in neighbourhood renewal and housing regeneration, is very strong”, explains Janet Dean “so it made perfect sense for us to team up in The Dean Knight Partnership to strengthen the service offer to our clients.”
“And the timing is just right”, continues Keith Knight. “There is a growing awareness of the contribution that the built heritage makes to regenerating towns and cities, but historic buildings and settings need specialist knowledge and skills if they are to be restored in a way that is sympathetic to their heritage but also offers practical solutions for modern society. The Dean Knight Partnership offers such skills and knowledge”.
